FAQs about "client-glibc-i386-1-25-36"

Q: On which operating systems has the binary been tested?
A: RedHat Linux 5.1 & 5.2

Q: Does it work with T2A?
A: Yes.

Q: Does it work with the original UO?
A: Untested.

Q: Do features such as 'Big Window' and Chat work?
A: Yes.

Q: What is untested at this time?
A: Sound & Music. If you have problems, disable it.

Q: How stable is it?
A: Fairly stable. Tested with up to 8 hours of continuous play every day for the last week.

Q: Is the Linux Client still "officially unsupported"?
A: Yes.

Q: How do we report bugs, give feedback, send high praises, etc.?
A: Officially, you can't. Unofficially, we'll work something out.

Q: Do the programmers want feedback?
A: Yes, of course. Hold on to it for now, please.

Q: Why a full binary and not a patch?
A: We still have to learn the patching system for the Linux Client :-(

Q: So what do I do with "client-glibc-i386-1-25-36"?
A: Copy it into your UO directory on HD & try to run it ;-)

Q: Why has it taken so long to build this new version?
A: Significant new code & re-structuring of old code ... in addition to the usual craziness ;-)

Q: What are all those messages?
A: Debugging messages. They should give us an idea of what happened in the event of a crash.

Q: How do I turn off the message logging.
A: Pipe to /dev/null

Q: Can files be loaded from a CD?
A: Yes.

Q: How can files be loaded from a CD?
A: Use the uo.cfg option something like "FileManagerAddSearchPath=/mnt/cdrom/Client/".

Q: What about minimum hardware specifications?
A: Playing on a P90, PCI with 16MB RAM, 2MB VRAM is bearable.
